Ai He - Kaoshiung Posted by Hello

Translated the name means "love river" - it's a fun date place if you're ever on this side of the world. This picture was a few months ago and the other two tonight as I tried experimenting. Here's what I learned.

Camera - Fuji FinePix S5000
Date - 12/10/04
ISO - 200
Exposure - 1/11 seconds
Aperture - f3.2
Focal length - 57mm

I went out to do some experimenting tonight and here's what I found. Taking a bad shot of lights reflecting in the water is darn near impossible. This image was handheld on a boat - the other two were from land on a tripod. The results were pretty similar.
To get a clear shot ISO 800, f~11, 1/10-15 seconds seems to be the ballpark range (the wacky fuji equivalent is pretty close to these numbers on the 20D). Blurrier - aim between 1 and 2 seconds. Beyond that and the water will turn glassy.
Just in case you wanted to know:)

Forgot to mention this -
Tried out mirror lockdown - it's great. Prevents camera shake on the slow exposures and even better, it changes the timer to 2 seconds rather than the 10 with the normal settings. So tonight it literally saved me 15 minutes of waiting.
Also tried long exposure noise reduction - confirmed my suspicion that it hurts more than it helps (in addition to waiting the entire length of the exposure to see it). I suppose that noise may be significant on big enlargements, but on the computer screen ISO 3200 (the H setting) on a thirty second exposure was unnoticeable.

This is my favorite of the three. Lovely colors.
