I'll add that I'm not a total goober - a 125 year old sketch isn't all that exciting in normal circumstances. But I had lost hope that I would ever be able to find any significant information about Taiwan's aborigines in English. The artist, a missionary, was in a nearby village (the names have all changed since then, so I don't know which), but he could have been sketching the hand of this woman's great- grandmother. How cool!
